John W. Mroszczyk, PhD, PE, CSP
John W. Mroszczyk has over 40 years of engineering experience. He has worked for major corporations such as General Electric before founding his own firm, Northeast Consulting Engineers, Inc. His work includes design, safety, and consulting services for major corporations, governmental agencies, small companies, insurance companies, property managers, building contractors, and the legal profession.

John Mroszczyk holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, summa cum laude from Boston University, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from MIT, and a PhD in Applied Mechanics from MIT. While at Boston University, he was elected to Tau Beta Pi, the National Engineering Honor Society.

Dr. Mroszczyk is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in nine states and is a Board Certified Safety Professional (CSP). His professional memberships include the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the National Society of Professional Engineers(NSPE).

Dr. Mroszczyk has held office and has participated in a number of committees with the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE).  He has served as the Newsletter Editor, the Assistant Administrator, and Administrator for the Engineering Practice Specialty of ASSE.  Dr. Mroszczyk is currently a member of the ASSE Professional Development Council. He is an active member of the OSHA Alliance Construction Roundtable and served on the NIOSH Prevention Through Design (PtD) Council and the NIOSH Wholesale/Retail Council. He was a section coordinator and author for ASSE’s Safety Professional Handbook, 1st and 2nd Editions, and editor and author for ASSE’s Safety Engineering-4th Edition. He was also one of the technical reviewers for ASSE’s Construction Safety Management & Engineering, 2nd Edition. Dr. Mroszczyk was the task force chairman for ASSE’s Prevention Through Design Virtual Symposium and ASSE’s Avoiding the Worst: Fatality & Severe Loss Symposium.

Dr. Mroszczyk is a graduate of the General Electric Company Advanced Course in Engineering. In 1984 he received the Fred O. MacFee Award from the General Electric Company. Since then he has been honored four times by ASSE. In 1995 he received the Safety Professional of the Year award by the Engineering Practice Specialty of ASSE. In 2004 he received the Safety Professional of the Year award by the Boston Chapter of ASSE. Dr. Mroszczyk received the 2011 ASSE Council on Practices and Standards Best Technical Article Award for “Prevention of Fall Fatalities and Injuries”. In 2013, he received the Charles Culbertson Outstanding Service Award from ASSE. In 2015, he received the professional paper award, 2nd place, from ASSE for a paper published in Professional Safety entitled "Improving Construction Safety: A Team Effort".

Dr. Mroszczyk is published in the engineering and safety fields. He has given presentations at local, national, and international conferences.
